Shellcraft is a parade float created in collaboration with Grace Saul and Megan Roper for the Tailshakers. I designed and built the entire frame and hinge mechanism, which served as the foundation for the paper mâché and wire shell crafted by Grace Saul. Decoration and styling was provided by Grace and Megan. A key design goal was to create a modular structure that allowed for easy transportation and rapid on-site assembly.
Beyond its role in the parade, Shellcraft was designed as an interactive art piece—inviting public engagement at the Mermaid Parade—and also functioned as a fully accessible photo booth experience.
